The POW/MIA Table: A Symbol of Remembrance

we honor and remember the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our nation. As part of our Valor@Hyve initiative, we proudly present the POW/MIA table, a deeply symbolic display that reminds us of those who were Prisoners of War (POW) and those who remain Missing in Action (MIA).

Each element of the table carries a powerful message:

The Small Table — Represents the frailty of one solitary soldier against overwhelming odds.
The White Tablecloth — A symbol of the pure intentions and dedication of those who served.

The Single Red Rose — A tribute to the loved ones who await their return.
The Yellow Ribbon — Represents the hope of a nation for their safe return.
A Slice of Lemon — Signifies the bitter fate of those captured or missing.
A Pinch of Salt — Reminds us of the tears shed by families and friends.
The Empty Chair — A poignant reminder of their absence, waiting for their return.
he Inverted Glass — Signifies that they cannot join us in a toast.

The POW/MIA table is more than a tradition—it’s a powerful call to remember those who have yet to return home. Through Valor@Hyve, we honor their service, their sacrifice, and the families who continue to hope and wait.

This Memorial Day, and every day, let us pause to reflect and honor their memory.

MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States meant for honoring the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May.

Watch a discussion on the meaning of the holiday, specifically how each of us has been affected, and how we make sure to take time and honor our fallen comrades on Memorial Day.

K9S FOR WARRIORS & THE POPPY PROJECT

valor@hyve supports K9s for Warriors as a focus to continue education highlighting struggling Warriors. K9 for Warriors is a lifelong program delivering benefits to Warriors at no cost. The program pairs Warriors with shelter dogs trained to help veterans with post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. Donating to this chosen cause earned you a poppy pin, the official flower to memorialize the soldiers who fought and died during the war. Have you donated? Reach out and let us know!

POW Tables throughout Hyve’s US locations

Tables decorated with a variety of symbols to help us remember our prisoners of war and missing comrades, a tradition which began at the end of the Vietnam War, were displayed throughout Hyve in Fremont, Olive Branch and Greenville. Hyve employees volunteered to stand alongside the tables and share their meaning as associates could stop to pay their respects.
