Medical & Healthcare
Providing services to low income as well as the uninsured is Delta Health Care. They provide a wide range and variety of services, including numerous high quality and affordable health care services and resources to the under-served members of our community.

San Joaquin County and Stockton Public Health Services
A local health department, and provides care such as clinical services, child and adolescent health care, and more.

San Joaquin General Hospital may have a sliding fee scale for the low income and uninsured. It offers acute care, ancillary and specialty services including radiology, mammography, surgery, short stay surgery, rehabilitation therapy, and intensive care. Outpatient services include prenatal, pediatrics, dental clinic, a dialysis clinic, and general medicine. Fees and bills vary.

Community Medical Centers, Inc. Provides variable rate billing scales and accepts Medi-Cal. Offers medical and health care for people of all ages, including Pharmacy, Radiology/X-Ray, and Internal Medicine. Stockton California based.

California Human Development of Stockton The statewide, non-profit human service agency focuses on addressing housing needs, coordinating help for immigrants, the working poor and ex-prisoners. They run several low-income housing units and apartments in the region. Self-sufficiency services, employment, and other case management services are also available from CHD. Food Aid
The Emergency Food Bank (phone (209) 464-7369) helps hundreds of people per month by providing them with free food, groceries, and other household needs. They operate several pantries across San Joaquin County California that distribute food and more.
Community Development Department – San Joaquin County – This department provides the low income and people facing a short term hardship with rent and housing assistance. The aid is part of the federal government funded Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP). Greater Stockton Emergency Food Bank can be called at 209 464-7369. The distribution center provides emergency food to individuals and families, and operates over 10 smaller pantries across the county.

Senior Gleaners, Inc. – Offers surplus food to the elderly, seniors, and homeless, and all aid is offered for free. They partner with local charities and churches in the region. 916-925-3240
Brown Bag Program is a partnership between Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. Food is only offered for senior citizens age 60 or older. 704 Industrial Park Drive, Manteca, CA 95337, dial 209 239-2091.

Emergency & Crisis Assistance
The Salvation Army, Stockton and Lodi Corps (phone (209) 948-8955) offers counseling, limited financial assistance for paying bills and rent, holiday programs, and information on various federal and California state government programs. The Stockton Salvation Army supports needy and low income families with emergency food, clothing, and more. Another Salvation Army center is in Lodi. It provides free hot meals, emergency lodging and clothing. A shelter is on site. A workshop known as Overcoming Roadblocks will help people overcome challenges they face that may be a cause of their struggles. 209 367-9560
Neighborhood Preservation Division is involved in administering numerous housing and rental assistance programs. Some are run in partnership with other San Joaquin County non-profits, such as Lutheran Services. Others rely on government grants, including the various Supportive Housing Programs. The department can help the homeless, poor, disabled or seniors find some type of solution to their housing crisis. Restrictions and income limited are in place. Catholic Charities – This non-profit organization supports residents in Stockton, San Joaquin and nearby counties. A number of services and assistance programs are offered, with the possibility of some limited financial aid for bills or rent. However most of the support focuses on offering items such as free food, holiday meals and gifts, and medical care. In addition, the agency provides help to senior citizens, immigrants, and the disabled. New Hope Family Shelter – Serves the homeless, and provides food, clothing, lodging, and counseling. The agency also offers a supportive housing component to help with paying move-in costs and rental assistance for up to 24 months. San Joaquin and Stockton holiday assistance programs – Families in a short term crisis (such as job loss) or those in poverty/low income can receive Christmas help, Thanksgiving meals, or Easter baskets. Find charities that provide free toys, food boxes, and more. Continue with Christmas help in San Joaquin County.
Lutheran Services can help meet housing needs. They have programs for Stockton and nearby communities, including transitional housing. After a family gains stability, employment, and is ready to move into a new situation, then work with a case manager to find permanent housing in San Joaquin or northern California. Housing Authority of San Joaquin County – Administers low income housing. Specific programs include Migrant Family Centers, the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, and Family Self Sufficiency. 448 S. Center Street Stockton, California 95203, 209 460-5000. San Joaquin County Aging and Adult Services offers services and programs to serve the disabled, senior citizens, and elderly low-income population of San Joaquin County. Some examples of what is offered includes Nutrition Training, Legal Assistance, Congregate and home delivered meals, as well as Supplemental Food.
Low income disabled residents can get advice on applying for SSI or other government benefits. The non-profit, based on Stockton, can also coordinate short term support. This may be financial help during disability application process. Call 209 468-2202 for information on all services.
Legal aid – Firms across northern California may provide free advice to low income individuals and seniors. While numerous civil cases can be addressed, depending on resources, attorneys do focus on help with housing matters and public aid.
