2-1-1 is a free telephone number providing access to local community services. 2-1-1 is available in multiple languages, allowing those in need to access information and obtain referrals to physical and mental health resources; housing, utility, food, and employment assistance; and suicide and crisis interventions. 2 1 1 also provides disaster preparedness, response, and recovery during declared emergencies.

MEDICAL RESOURCES

San Joaquin County and Stockton Public Health Services: A local health department, and provides care such as clinical services, child and adolescent health care, and more. Call (209) 468-3400

San Joaquin General Hospital may have a sliding fee scale for the low income and uninsured. It offers acute care, ancillary and specialty services including radiology, mammography, surgery, short stay surgery, rehabilitation therapy, and intensive care. Outpatient services include prenatal, pediatrics, dental clinic, a dialysis clinic, and general medicine. Fees and bills vary.Call (209) 468-6000

Community Medical Centers, Inc Provides variable rate billing scales and accepts Medi-Cal. Offers medical and health care for people of all ages, including Pharmacy,Radiology/X-Ray, and Internal Medicine. Stockton California based. Call (209) 944-4700 

California Human Development of Stockton: The statewide, non-profit human service agency focuses on addressing housing needs, coordinating help for immigrants, the working poor and ex-prisoners. They run several low-income housing units and apartments in the region. Self-sufficiency services, employment, and other case management services are also available from CHD. Greater Stockton Emergency Food Bank: The distribution center provides emergency food to individuals and families and operates over 10 smaller pantries across the county. Call: 209 464-7369.

Second Harvest Food Bank offers three main programs and can give a referral. 704 Industrial Park Drive, Manteca, California 95337, telephone: 209-239-2091

Sacramento Food Bank: Offers surplus food to the elderly, seniors, and homeless, and all aid is offered for free. They partner with local charities and churches in the region. 916-925-3240

Brown Bag Program is a partnership between Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. Food is only offered for senior citizens age 60 or older. 704 Industrial Park Drive, Manteca, CA 95337, dial 209 239-2091.

EMERGENCY & CRISIS ASSISTANCE

Community Development Department –San Joaquin County:This department provides the low income and people facing a short-term hardship with rent and housing assistance. The aid is part of the federal government funded Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP). Get help with rent and other housing expenses such as security deposits, utility bills, moving costs, and more. Call (209) 468-3065

The Salvation Army, Stockton: offers counseling, limited financial assistance for paying bills and rent, holiday programs, and information on various federal and California state government programs. The Stockton Salvation Army supports needy and low income families with emergency food, clothing, and more. The Salvation Army also provides assistance with paying for PG&E utility bills through its REACH Program. Call 209 948-8955, or more Stockton Salvation Army financial assistance.

Hope Harbors- Lodi: provides free hot meals, emergency lodging and clothing. A shelter is on site. A workshop known as Overcoming Roadblocks will help people overcome challenges they face that may be a cause of their struggles. 209 367-9560

Housing Authority of San Joaquin County: Administers low income housing. Specific programs include Migrant Family Centers, the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, and Family Self Sufficiency. 448 S. Center Street Stockton, California 95203, 209 460-5000. San Joaquin County Aging and Adult Services: offers services and programs to serve the disabled, senior citizens, and elderly low-income population of San Joaquin County. Some examples of what is offered includes Nutrition Training, Legal Assistance, Congregate and home delivered meals, as well as Supplemental Food. Call: 209-468-1000

National Veterans Foundation: Get information about the resources and services that are available to you. Learn about crisis intervention, food or shelter, benefits counseling, medical treatment, free legal aid, or job training for employment opportunities. Phone 888 777-4443.

Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) can offer emergency aid with paying utility and electric bills. Assistance is by appointment and only for qualified low income people if they have a 48-hour notice or a shut off notice. The Stockton agency can be reached at 209 468-3988.

LOW INCOME SERVICES & PROGRAMS

Tracy Interfaith Ministries offers resource for low income people. They help people who are faced with an unexpected crisis (such as a car repair), seniors with limited income, the person who lost their job, and others. It is a faith based group for less fortunate families. They do whatever they can to offer these individuals assistance and support. Call 209-836-5424

SSI & Other Government Benefits Low-income disabled residents can get advice on applying for SSI or other government benefits. The non-profit, based in Stockton, can also coordinate short-term support. This may be financial help during disability application process. Call: (209) 468-2202

FAMILY AND CHILDCARE RESOURCES

First 5 San Joaquin Through a broad network of agencies and community organizations to provide early childhood services that enable children to begin school healthy, ready and able to learn, and emotionally well developed. They help strengthen parental knowledge and skills. They also offer cultural access services (translation services) to help navigate their services. 209-953-5437
